Renaissance-Baroque Chateau

Chateau Ctěnice was originally a Gothic fort, the building today stands on five-angled grounds around a rather small court. Next to the fort are agricultural court with two granges and a long ground agriclutural building. It was Renaissance rebuilt around 1550 and further modified in the 18th century. The fort was rebuilt one century later into a chateau with a broad prismatic tower with a bulb cupola and a lantern. Preserved fosse with a bridge. Blind arcades in the court.


Expositions

Unique exposition of historical carriages from the 18th to 20th century in reconstructed chateau buildings is a complex digest of this travelling type history. You will see for example a post-coach, archiepiscopal carriage, ceremonious gilded carriage, britzkas or sledges. Also period liveries that were a significant part of any carriage service. This exposition introduces a collection which public has never seen before in our country and even our youngest visitors will find entertainment in the childrens corner. The chateau plans to open a small hotel and a coffe bar. Chateau 1st floor is to be opened in april 2004 with exposition about the chateau history, permanent exposition dedicited to the Habsburks will be opened on May 31st 2005.
