Former parish church of the Vyšehrad Canonry was changed into a national cemetery in the 70s of the 19th century. Local gravestones form a unique gallery of cemetery plastics with pieces by J.V. Myslbek, F. Bílek, B. Kafka and others. One part of this cemetery is so called Slavín, a common tomb to the most famous celebrities of the czech nation.

Over 600 celebrities of the czech culture and intelligence have been burried here - for example A. Dvořák, K. Čapek, B. Němcová, K. H. Mácha, J. Neruda, A. Mucha, M. Aleš, E. Destinová, J. Heyrovský, B.Smetana, Z. Štěpánek.
